It is with deep sadness that I learned the news of the passing of Jemal Chkuaseli, a prominent singer and meritorious artist.
As a singer and artist gifted with multifaceted talents Jemal Chkuaseli was loved by all. He has left a rich creative legacy, having served the cause of reviving, protecting, and developing traditional Georgian song and dance for many years. Under Jemal Chkuaseli's leadership, the Ensemble Erisioni has introduced unique Georgian culture to the world and secured recognition for our country.
Jemal Chkuaseli's death is a great loss for the country. It is from the bottom of my heart that I express my sympathy to his family and everyone treasuring Georgian folklore.
