The Government of Georgia inter alia prioritizes support of children and youth healthcare in the country. It was announced by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting held with Ghassan Khalil, UNICEF Representative in Georgia today.

The Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to Ghassan Khalil for the work conducted by UNICEF in the country and expressed readiness of the Government of Georgia to further intensify cooperation with UNICEF.

Significant support of UNICEF in the fight against the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic was highlighted at the meeting.

Irakli Garibasvili welcomes the adoption of a UNICEF Program for 2021-2025, which are attuned to the national priorities of the country, thereby expressing hope that their implementation will facilitate the efforts carried out by the country towards the policy objectives.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, drafting of the UNICEF Program Document was an open and transparent process, engaging the Government and all the relevant stakeholders.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked Ghassan Khalil for supporting the food provision program at schools and noted that this key initiative will lead to prosperity and better future for children in Georgia.
