Interagency Coordination Council Reviews Current Epidemic Stance and Vaccination Results in Georgia Print Version

Current epidemic trends, incidence rates and situation at hospitals of the country were discussed by the Interagency Coordination Council led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia today at the Government Administration. It was noted that special importance is acquired by the intensification of vaccination, by taking into account the current epidemic trends both in Georgia and worldwide. At the same time, according to the epidemiologists, uniform use of facemasks is still low, alas being considered as one of the best means of preventing the viral spread.

The Interagency Coordination Council urges citizens of the country to practice social distancing, wear facemasks both indoors and outdoors, get actively engaged in the vaccination process, as the latter is the most effective means of fight against the virus.

Council got also briefed about the nation-wide marathon of vaccination. As commonly known, mobile brigades are visiting various regions and settlements of Georgia to vaccinate the willing population on the spot. Marathon has so far covered over 1400 citizens of the country. Since the detection, 698 944 cases of lab-proven COVID-19 have been identified in Georgia so far, out of which 639 564 individuals have recovered and 9 831 died.

Currently, 51 individuals are kept in quarantine, 975 - at clinical hotels, while 6 186 - at healthcare facilities under medical supervision.

The Interagency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava and Administration of the Parliament of Georgia.
