The country's epidemiological situation, growing infection rates, and hospital sector workload were discussed at today's meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the Administration of the Government.

The meeting emphasized that the situation is under control, and the Government is managing the process. At the same time, the growing statistics of active cases call for special attention and scrupulous observance of applicable regulations. Epidemiologists report that infection rates are especially high in regions with low vaccination statistics, the reason why stepping up the process inoculation becomes even more important.

The Interagency Coordination Council urges citizens to observe applicable regulations, such as wearing facemasks both indoors and outdoors and maintain social distancing, and to engage actively in vaccination.

To bolster immunization rates and ensure maximal access to vaccination, a vaccination marathon has started in the regions. To that end, mobile crews are traveling to various settlements to provide services on the ground.

Since the first coronavirus case in Georgia, the country has seen 675,771 confirmed cases, with 619,285 recoveries and 9,588 deaths.

48 persons are presently under quarantine, 1,003 are in clinical hotels, and 5,679 are hospitalized under medical supervision.

The Parliament of Georgia led by Speaker Kakha Kuchava and the President's Administration are actively involved in the work of the Interagency Coordination Council chaired by the Prime Minister.
