Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, together with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze and Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs Thea Tsulukiani, visited Vani Archeological Museum.

The Head of Government familiarized himself with the infrastructural work implemented in the museum and met with the museum's staff. Irakli Garibashvili emphasized that the renovated museum will play an important role both in preserving Georgia's cultural identity and self-reflection and in developing the region's cultural tourism.

The project was implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, with financial support from the Georgian Government and the World Bank. A new 4-story facility was built, and a small library, a laboratory, a cafeteria, repositories, administrative offices, and a parking area were put in place.

The renovated facility of Vani Archeological Museum preserves its old features and yet fits perfectly with contemporary reality and meets modern standards. National Museum's Director Davit Lortkipanidze briefed the Prime Minister on the rich materials preserved in the museum. Alongside archeological materials, Vani Archeological Museum, for the first time, showcases materials reflecting Colchis gold-working technologies and the expertise of the ancient Colchis in gold extraction and processing.

The collections of Otar Lortkipanidze Vani Archeological Museum preserve the rich cultural heritage discovered at the archaeological site and its surrounding areas and dated the 8th-1stcenturies B.C. The Vani archaeological site is an architectural monument of global importance.

On his visit to the museum, the Head of Government was accompanied by Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili, Imereti Governor Zviad Shalamberidze, Vani and Khoni Majoritarian MP GiviChichinadze, and Head of the Government Administration's Regional Liaison Department Leri Barnabishvili.
