Prime Minister of Georgia Instructs Plans for Intensive Vaccination and Streamlined Mass Vaccination Centres be Developed within a Week Print Version

The Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held a meeting at the Government Administration today.

Council Members reviewed the current epidemic situation in the country. It was noted that stabilization is trending. Council also discussed the timeline of intensified vaccination and supply of additional doses.

It was noted at the meeting that over 3.6 million doses of COVID vaccine will be mobilized in total throughout Georgia and active preparation is thus starting for mass vaccination. As instructed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Intensive Vaccination and Streamlined Mass Vaccination Plans will be designed and developed by the Ministry of Health within a week, which will be submitted to the Coordination Council for endorsement. At the same time, National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia (NCDC) will re-train additional vaccination crews and rural doctors will also get engaged in this process.

Besides, the Inter-Agency Coordination Council has ruled to include the aviation professionals in the priority groups eligible for vaccination.

Along with the process of COVID immunization, following remain to be key for preventing the community transfer: uniform wearing of face masks, social distancing and avoidance of public gatherings. Inter-Agency Coordination Council urges citizens of the country to adhere to the imposed COVID regulations to maintain the stabilizing trend of epidemic situation in the conditions of eased restrictions.

Since the first detection, 350 428 lab-proven cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Georgia so far, out of which 335 029 individuals recovered and 4 951 - died.
Currently, 35 individuals are kept in quarantine, while 635 - at clinical hotels and 3 333 - at healthcare facilities under medical supervision.

Inter-Agency Coordination Council led by the Prime Minister of Georgia actively engages the Parliament of Georgia chaired by MP Kakha Kuchava and Administration of the President of Georgia.
