Today marks a great celebration, indeed. This unique theater, with its history going back 150 years, is now Ozurgeti's true adornment, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated during today's opening ceremony of fully rehabilitated Alexandre Tsutsunava State Drama Theater.

According to Irakli Garibashvili, the theater has been renovated with direct financing from Mister Bidzina Ivanishvili and assistance from Cartu Foundation.

"Greetings everyone! I welcome Cabinet Members, MPs, representatives of theater and culture, Ozurgeti society. I would like to congratulate all of you on this day. This unique theater, with its history going back 150 years, is now Ozurgeti's true adornment. As Mister Chigogidze pointed out, this beauty, this magnificent theater, has been renovated with direct financing from Mister Bidzina Ivanishvili and assistance from Cartu Foundation. I would like to add that we recently held the symbolic opening of the State Folklore Center's stele across the square, one named after Mister Anzor Erkomaishvili. We once again commemorated this great man. And I would like to reiterate that we are a special nation, indeed, and I would like to single out Guria for its exceptional talents. The phenomenon of Mister Anzor Erkomaishvili reaffirms how special the region and people of Guria are. My love, warmth, and respect to all of you! Thank you so much! Once again, I congratulate you!" the Prime Minister said.

As a result of rehabilitation, the Ozurgeti Theater now boasts ultramodern audio and lighting systems, also two full scenes, and a radio studio to record plays. The building meets modern standards and incorporates a dressing room for cast members, a props storage room, carpenter's workshops, and modern equipment. The theater also features various rehearsal spaces, a recording studio, museum rooms, facilities for an artistic decorations workshop, and a small experimental stage capable of operating independently. The building is adapted for persons with disabilities.

The theater enjoys a status of a monument of cultural heritage. The Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava, Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs Thea Tsulukiani, and members of the executive and legislative branches of government attended Ozurgeti's newly rehabilitated Alexandre Tsutsunava State Drama Theater's performance Yearning-Don't Wake Up, a play based on Nodar Dumbadze's works.
