Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met with the family of Zaza Gakheladze, who was unlawfully detained by the Russian occupation forces.

At the meeting held within the Government Administration, the Prime Minister spoke with the family of Zaza Gakheladze about the steps taken by the central government to release an unlawfully detained citizen of Georgia.

The Head of Government of Georgia noted that central authorities are using all the leverages at their disposal to have Zaza Gakheladze released immediately.This issue is raised at a high political level and is being actively discussed with international partners.

Irakli Garibashvili once again expressed his support for Zaza Gakheladze and his family, emphasizing that his immediate release from unlawful detention is one of the main priorities of the state.

Zaza Gakheladze was illegally detained by the Russian occupation forces on July 11, 2020 and unlawfully sentenced to 12 years and 6 months of imprisonment in the occupied territory of the country on February 5, 2021.
