Today, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia held a meeting with Viktoria Horvath, Hungary's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia.

The meeting discussed the relations between the two countries, with emphasis on economic cooperation and Georgia-Hungary trade relations maintaining stability despite the pandemic's negative impact on global economic indicators.

Georgia continues its political and economic reforms, the Prime Minister emphasized, in order to be ready to apply for full EU membership in 2024, and the country counts on support from international partners in this process.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of joint effort in the fight against the pandemic. Giorgi Gakharia pointed out that, besides the COVAX platform, the Government of Georgia continues intensive bilateral negotiations with international partners and friend countries to enable Georgia to receive additional vaccine doses as soon as possible, with support from partners playing a key role in ensuring access to the vaccine.

The parties also discussed the gradual lifting of restrictions and the resumption of regular international flights on February 1. Before the pandemic, Wazz Air had a years-long successful record in Georgia which, along with tourism, helped establish bilateral business ties.

The Ambassador of Hungary reiterated to the Prime Minister of Georgia Hungary's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
