Prime Minister of Georgia Discussed Current Epidemic Situation at Healthcare Facilities at Large and in the Region of Adjara, Including the Availability of Hospital Beds with the Task Force of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Print Version

Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia together with Ekaterine Tikaradze, Minister of Health, Labour, Social Security and IDPs from Occupied Territories of Georgia held a video conference to discuss current epidemic situation in the region of Adjara with Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara; Nino Nizharadze, Minister of Health of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and Tamar Gabunia, First Deputy Minister of Health, Labour, Social Security and IDPs from Occupied Territories of Georgia who has been stationed in Batumi since the epidemic situation deteriorated in the region with an aim of improving the situation management and coordination.

The Prime Minister of Georgia was briefed in detail on the current epidemic situation in the region at large, as well as on the hospital beds available at healthcare facilities.

The Head of Government in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara noted that the epidemic situation has relatively stabilised in the region.

According to Tamar Gabunia, problems inter alia relating to the number of available hospital beds have been addressed within the local healthcare system. Besides, Marina Ezugbaia, Medical Director of the Infectious Hospital of Georgia and representative of the Clinical Management Group is also stationed locally to improve the clinical management process. Faults witnessed in the region have been addressed with a joint effort and irrespective of the high number of patients, the system is performing soundly in the region of Adjara.

Public transport resumed operation in Adjara on October 19. Remaining restrictions will be gradually lifted as well in accordance with stabilisation of the epidemic situation locally. Relevant agencies are intensively enforcing the regulations set for the region.

The Prime Minister of Georgia continues to hold regular video conferences with the local task force on the situation witnessed in Adjara.
