Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia met MEP Didier Raynders, European Commissioner for Justice within the scope of his Official Visit to Brussels today.

Dignitaries discussed the success achieved towards justice and human rights in Georgia. The Prime Minister underlined the significance of reforms in the judiciary of the country. He noted the progress achieved by Georgia towards human rights, including the reforms implemented within the penitentiary system.
Focus was made on the key topics of EU-Georgia cooperation agenda and process of Georgia's European integration.

The Prime Minister noted that Georgia has set 3 key priorities on its way to EU integration: democratic advancement and institutional building; strengthened strategic role of Georgia within the wider Black Sea region; improved connectivity.

According to the Georgian side, the country is capable of playing a significant role by being part of a wider Black Sea region with a status of an alternative connectivity hub and energy corridor of regional magnitude. At the same time, the Head of Government of Georgia underlined the significance of physical closeness of Georgia with the EU, along with efforts aimed at finding practical instruments to achieve this goal.
