Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia visited the Vladimer Sanikidze Hospital for Veterans of War and Defense Forces in Tbilisi together with Defense Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Internal Affairs Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, State Security Service Head Grigol Liluashvili, and Vladimer Imnadze, director of the State Service of Veterans' Affairs.

The hospital, which meets modern standards and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, includes an outpatient and medical-diagnostic center with a day hospital. From now on, it will serve veterans at the new address, 7 Spiridon Kedia Street, free of charge.

According to Vladimer Imnadze, director of the State Service for Veterans' Affairs, since the building of the Veterans' Hospital on Iamanidze Street could no longer be renovated, a strategic rehabilitation plan was developed after the management of the hospital was transferred to the State Service of Veterans' Affairs. The agency was provided with 1,500 square meters in the existing building on Kedia Street by the Ministry of Defense, and both the Ministry of Healthcare and American partners provided significant support in the process of re-equipping the hospital with medical equipment.

The Prime Minister noted that caring for veterans and providing them with the appropriate medical services is the duty of the state, adding that the provision of support to meritorious veterans will continue in the future as well.

The hospital was founded in 1978 by a Georgian military doctor, Colonel of Medical Services Vladimer Sanikidze. The multidisciplinary hospital and its highly qualified staff served veterans of war and Defense Forces for years, free of charge. The hospital staff is mainly comprised of officers - most of them veterans of war and Defense Forces. Among them are military doctors and nurses who have served the health of veterans for years.
