Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, together with Presidential Administration Head Natia Sulava and Georgian Defense Forces Commander Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, presented the Order of the National Hero - the highest state decoration of Georgia - to the children of Georgian Major General Geno Adamia, who died in the Abkhazian war. The title of National Hero was awarded posthumously to Geno Adamia by the President on the basis of the nomination by the Prime Minister.

During the event, which was held at the Administration of the Government, it was also noted that the No. 1 Public School in Senaki will be named after Geno Adamia.

Geno Adamia was appointed deputy commander of the 3rd Brigade of the National Guard in August 1992. He was appointed commander of the 23rd Brigade and chief of the Sokhumi Garrison in September of the same year. He is associated with almost every important and successful military operation to defend Sokhumi. Geno Adamia's two sons fought alongside him.

General Geno Adamia was killed on the Kelasuri Bridge on 28 September 1993, the day after the fall of Sokhumi. He was killed near the Kelasuri Bridge while attempting to reenter Sokhumi. He was laid to rest in the Tbilisi Brothers' Cemetery.

Geno Adamia has also been awarded the Vakhtang Gorgasali Order, I and III Class.
