The Government has addressed the Parliament with an initiative to allow a one-off conscription delay for the students of schools of vocational education-relevant amendments, in line with the Prime Minister's promise, were presented by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport during today's Cabinet meeting.

As Giorgi Gakharia stated at the Cabinet meeting, these amendments will promote the country's vocational education, while not standing in the way of conscription.

"While presenting the annual report in Parliament, we promised to ensure a one-off conscription delay for the students of schools of vocational education, and today the Minister of Education is presenting relevant legislative amendments. That will promote the country's vocational education without affecting the process of conscription. It is only a one-off delay. As you know, 12- or 24-month military courses are prescribed for schools of vocational education and, more importantly, vocational students enroll as young as 15 years of age. Consequently, this cannot be used as leverage to avoid military service, because it will be a one-off delay. This way, we are giving our young students to learn relevant professions," the Prime Minister said.
