Telavi and Akhaltsikhe will join the seven municipalities that have had special checkpoints set up on their administrative borders within the framework of the state of emergency that is in place throughout all of Georgia. The corresponding decision was made at the session of the Interagency Coordination Council that took place under the leadership of Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at the Administration of the Government today.

The head of government and members of the Cabinet of Ministers discussed issues pertaining to the enforcement of the strict regulations that are in place for the duration of the state of emergency and the so-called effective quarantine. They also discussed the situation at the special checkpoints, which were set up through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense at the borders of major municipalities. Citizens are undergoing examination - including thermal screening - at the control checkpoints and representatives of relevant government agencies are deployed at the locations for this purpose.

The head of government instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs to strictly control the enforcement of the restrictions entailed by the curfew, which will come into force at 21:00 today, and to utilize the measures provided for by law in case of noncompliance.

The dynamics of the operation of the unified governmental hotline 144 and the challenges associated with this process were also discussed during the session of the Interagency Coordination Council. The prime minister instructed the relevant government agencies to further increase the capabilities of the hotline in order to allow citizens to obtain comprehensive information concerning the restrictions in place within the framework of the state of emergency.

It was noted during today's session of the Interagency Council that 21 out of 110 patients infected with the coronavirus in Georgia have already recovered. Five patients are in a relatively serious, though stable condition. All of them are receiving appropriate treatment. At the moment, 4,995 persons are in quarantine while 278 persons are hospitalized under medical observation.

The Interagency Coordination Council continues to hold regular meetings under the leadership of the prime minister in order to take coordinated steps.

The Parliament and the Administration of the President of Georgia are actively involved in the council's work.
