"Authorities will do their best to make sure that banking sector of the country becomes one of the most significant economic foundations, one of the important sources of economic development to be strong and advanced" stated Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia in his speech delivered at the presentation of an Annual Report of TBC Bank today.
Head of Government of Georgia focused on the role of the banking sector in the macro-economic stability of the country.
"TBC is a system bank. It has a very significant role in the macro-economic stability of the country, similar to the entire banking system for the synergy of effective cooperation between the state, the regulator and the banking system. It is our goal and authorities may expect a greater social responsibility from businesses, including the banking business. We should be more interested in making not only the banking system, but financial sector at large to be more developed. Everything has its time. Main thing is that we have a good, such balanced cooperation and I believe that the equilibrium we reached recently - especially between the authorities and the banking sector - is a basis for making 2020 further more successful for TBC and entire banking sector" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia underlined that 2019 was interesting and fruitful for the banking sector.
"We only welcome this and authorities will do their best to make sure that banking sector as one of the most significant economic foundations of the country and one of the most significant sources of economic advancement be strong and developed, of course. We always speak openly about certain aspects of social responsibility that we need to share. I congratulate the shareholders, clients and staff with a successful year and wish more impressive 2020" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
TBC Bank held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to showcase the achievements and results of the institution in 2019. Management of the bank also presented its development strategy and plans for future. Meeting was attended by representatives of the private sector, Government of Georgia, diplomatic corps, international financial institutions (IFIs) and business associations.
