Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Romanian Colleague at MSC Print Version

Giorgia Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia met Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister of Romania within the scope of the 56th Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Parties discussed current relations and key directions of cooperation between Georgia and Romania. Focus at the meeting was made on trade and economic relations, tourism, transport and communications between the two countries.

European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia was underlined, along with the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA), Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and reforms implemented in the country. Focus was made on the roadmap of accession to the EU, which will add a greater impulse to the European integration of Georgia.

Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to his Romanian colleague for supporting the implementation of a Substantial NATO-Georgia Package. It was noted that NATO-Georgia relations have never been so dynamic before, as in the recent years. Focus was made on the significance of the Black Sea Security.

Parties discussed prospects of intensified cooperation within the scope of Eastern Partnership and upcoming Summit scheduled for June 2020 in Brussels.

Head of Government of Georgia focused on the grave humanitarian condition witnessed at the occupied territories of Georgia and Peace Initiative of the Government branded as a Step to a Better Future. Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to his Romanian colleague for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

Meeting was attended by Irakli Chikovani, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia.
