Prime Minister of Georgia and Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Discuss Bilateral Economic Cooperation Print Version

Positive trend of economic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan, along with key directions of strategic partnership between the two countries were discussed by Giorgi Gakharia and Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan today.

It was noted that trade and bilateral investments are developing fast between the two countries, along with a cooperation towards energy corridors, logistics and transport.

Focus was made on new initiatives that envisage cooperation of Georgia and Azerbaijan towards developing sports infrastructure and free industrial zones, power energy imports and transit.

Significance of strategic partnership was underlined, along with a high level of mutual understanding between the two nations, which leads to efficient solutions to issues of mutual interest.

It was noted that successful economic relations will be continued as new projects are planned for implementation in the sectors of transport, transit, logistics, telecommunications and energy.

Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan is visiting Georgia in follow-up of a meeting held by and between Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia and Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Leaders of the two counties discussed significant issues of bilateral economic cooperation agenda earlier on in January this year.

Meeting held at the Government Administration of Georgia was attended by Rovnag Abduliayev, President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan); Javid Gurbanov; Chairman of the Azerbaijan Railways; Taleh Ziyadov, Director General of Baku Port; H.E. Dursun Hasanov, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia. From the Georgian side, meeting was attended by Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; H.E. Zurab Pataridze, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan; Irakli Chikovani, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia; David Peradze, CEO of Georgian Railway.
