“Strategic partnership between Georgia and USA has never been so high. Partners expect much more as we gain more results” stated Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia in relation with a letter of US Congressmen.

In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, congressmen chair a friendship group with Georgia and every criticism from their side is accepted by the Government in the working manner.

“USA is a strategic partner of our country. Every criticism from Heads of US-Georgia Friendship Group, friends and strategic partners is accepted in a working manner and we see no problem with that. In addition, we of course have our position on the matter. Certain questions exist and we will respond to them. It is rightly an integral part of a positive cooperation, positive friendship and positive strategic cooperation. No problem is seen in this” noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

As for the decision taken in relation with an initiative on holding proportional elections, Head of Government of Georgia noted that respective procedures have been processed within the Parliament and decision taken by the lawmakers elected by people cannot be questioned by any.

“All the rest is a political process. As you may well know, this dialogue is ongoing with an engagement of Ambassadors. Government of Georgia, our strategic partner, our friends, all of us are concerned about one thing – further democratic development of the country, which is not questioned by anyone. Strategic partnership between Georgia and USA has never been so high. Georgia has never before had such significant progress towards Euro-Atlantic integration. It is all about the present time. Most important of all is the progress we currently have.  It was our political decision to hold proportional elections in 2020, however political process flows within the Parliament represented by lawmakers elected by people themselves. We are open to any type of discussion and we will continue with discussions” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia responded to questions posed by journalists in relation with a dismantling of the protest rally:

“In relation with a protest rally, we will share full and comprehensive information based on genuine and objective data. I see no problem with that either. Therefore, we are confident in the justification of every step taken by the law enforcement system during the protest rally. Freedom of expression has never been so protected and transparent before in this country. It is a fact and it is not only my opinion. It is evidenced by international organizations and observation missions, etc.” concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
