Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia starts meetings in regions in parallel with those in sectors.

Head of Government of Georgia started with Shida Kartli region today and met teachers in Gori.

Prime Minister spoke about the reform agenda in the education sector of the country and noted that systemic reform is not the one that will reap tangible results within a year or two. Nevertheless, Head of Government of Georgia believes that everyone should actually feel and see the daily progress.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, it is not a coincidence that visits to regions got started with Shida Kartli and interaction with teachers in particular.

"It is not a coincidence that we are starting visits to regions with Shida Kartli and Gori was not selected without a reason. We are holding our first meeting with teachers and education sector at large. It has its own explanation. I was pleasantly surprised to see successful academic records in Gori, especially in the segment of general schooling. You seem to have a lot of medal winners and excellent academic performance among the youth. It is truly great merits to you!" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia believes that education is the systemic problem of the country and a system-wide reform has been launched to find solutions to it. It will be continued further and finalized.

"We all understand it pretty well that education is our systemic problem. We launched a system-wide reform of the sector to find solutions to it. I do not want to talk much, claiming that we will continue it further and finalize. Of course, it will be so indeed. We also understand that systemic reform of education is not the one that will reap tangible results within a year or two. Nevertheless, we need to clearly understand that we should actually feel and see the daily progress. It should manifest in the improvement of social conditions of teachers, their competencies, environment, high academic performance of our pupils and students. We all understand it pretty well that the gap witnessed in the development of fundamental sciences over the past 30 years should be overcome. All the efforts made by the Government are aimed at that. Responsibility is fully shared in this as well by the Government" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, youth should rely on traditions, but aspire to embrace the most successful and prominent values of the modern world.

"Our youth should indeed rely on our traditions, often conservative values that we have, however they should aspire to embrace desired and essential, most successful and prominent values of the modern world. Substantial role of education and teachers within this concept is manifested in striking a balance between traditions and modern values. At the same time, challenges faced by the youth in the era of global competition, even in the segment of high niche competences, even towards very specific knowledge, again promotes the critical nature of your role and function. Apart from all that, interaction-wise you are the most active part of our society" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, public service delivery and functions carried out by teachers, healthcare professionals and policemen are of critical importance.

In the opinion of the Prime Minister of Georgia, it is the infrastructure of public services that enables every individual citizen to explore full potential of the self within a peaceful environment.

"We have been heavily criticized recently for budgeting public funds, which very clearly reflects several fundamental priorities of ours. These are primarily children, youth, pensioners, who are truly praiseworthy people. Public sector delivering a service to these groups of the society primarily includes teachers, healthcare professional and police to top it all up" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, work of teachers, healthcare professionals and policemen are particularly important in Gori, along the occupation line.

"Of course we have many other large social groups, who need care. Work of civil servants in various areas and sectors is tremendously appreciated; their deeds are utterly important in various sectors of the economy. It also applies to businesses, as they create jobs. Though, we all understand it well that value-wise what teachers, healthcare professional and policemen do especially in Gori by the occupation line is of critical importance. Hence, we start with Gori and we need to agree on one thing: we should not hesitate to express ourselves. I am not a person to reject, get angry or upset of criticism or a question. Value of this interaction lies in voicing our concerns absolutely openly and sincerely. It may even go beyond our scope, but it does not really matter at all" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, every outreach visit to regions starts with teachers, continues with healthcare professionals, policemen, local authorities and various groups of the society.

"I had no other purpose, but to better experience what is happening in regions directly interacting with locals, observing how people work, what specific problems are encountered in various sectors. Often simple problems augment in great threats, which can otherwise be solved with a mere phone conversation. We do not have much time. Unfortunately or fortunately, we are at a stage today, when efficiency and effectiveness are most important. Quality stands at a second place now. I hope to answer your pressing questions and to demonstrate without any flattery how important the creation of dignified, comfortable and peaceful condition is for any individual to make sure that routinely great care is first taken of a family, then country, profession and so on" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
