What has been happening in Tkibuli yesterday and today is totally unacceptable, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated during today's Government meeting.

On the instructions of the Head of Government, the Minister of Economy will depart for Tkibuli today-to solve problems, not just to familiarize herself with the situation and current developments.

"What has been happening in Tkibuli yesterday and today is totally unacceptable, though we must also point out that these problems have been welling up for years. All investors and employers must bear in mind that it is their duty duly to fulfil their financial and remuneration-related responsibilities, and to put in place adequate working conditions for each employee. And that, of course, includes observing every aspect of workplace and technical safety. Even though these problems have been welling up for years, incidents like this should not be happening in our country," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government urged Natia Turnava to be maximally demanding and steadfast in protecting the rights of every citizen.

"Of course, we are and will continue doing everything to protect the interests of businesses, employers. We will stand by business wherever we can, but employers and businesses should also give due consideration to fulfilling their social obligations and responsibilities to our citizens," the Prime Minister stated.
