FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT OF EBRD INVITES PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA TO THE LONDON SUMMIT Print Version

"European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is not only our most significant partner, but an organization that plaid a decisive role in the development of Georgia and has financed over 200 projects throughout years of our long cooperation". It was noted by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting with Jurgen Rigterink, First Vice-President of EBRD today.

Head of Government of Georgia also stated that country highly appreciates the contribution made by the EBRD in the development of Georgia. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, visits of high-ranking officials of the Bank evidence the significance of partnership existing between the EBRD and Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed gratitude to the visiting official for the new Country Strategy developed for Georgia and noted that this all-inclusive document is fully attuned with priorities of the Government of Georgia.

Significance of joint projects implemented in various directions has been underlined at the meeting. It was noted that projects supporting energy, agriculture and private sector at large have a great impact on the sustainable development of the national economy.

Discussions were also related to the reform of the energy sector. Significant role of the EBRD has been underlined towards projects implemented for energy efficiency, education and human capital development, along with the support of institutional and economic reform agenda.

Prime Minister of Georgia and First Vice-President of EBRD expressed readiness to extend cooperation in new areas and directions.

"We mostly discussed the excellent cooperation between the EBRD and Georgia. As of today, 3.4 billion Euros of investments have been made in 235 projects. It is truly impressive and makes Georgia for us into a country with highest investments per capita" noted First Vice-President of EBRD.

Visiting official invited the Prime Minister of Georgia to the Summit of Eastern Partnership of the EBRD, which will be held in London in November 2019.
