Government of Georgia welcomes effective and productive cooperation with the World Bank, within the scope of which country has benefited of a significant funding. It was stated by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting with Sebastian Molineus, Regional Director of the World Bank for South Caucasus today.

Head of Government of Georgia stressed the support demonstrated by the World Bank, which has made it possible to significantly improve the infrastructure in the country and helped in the implementation of substantial projects in such sectors as energy, agriculture, regional and municipal development. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, transformation of the country into a transport and logistics hub is a priority of the Government of Georgia, thus making the greatest focus on the projects of regional magnitude.

Discussions at the meeting were related to the significance of continued reforms in the economy of the country, which ensures a greater improvement of the existing favorable investment environment.

Partnership within the Development Policy Operation (DPO) has been praised at the meeting today, as it contributes to the inclusive growth and increased competitiveness of the private sector.

Prime Minister of Georgia and Regional Director of the World Bank expressed readiness to deepen cooperation within the framework of partnership in 2019-2022.
