Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with Andreas Norlén, Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden.

The discussion revolved around the relations between the two countries. It was emphasized that Sweden is one of Georgia's strongest financial supporters, for which the Head of Georgian Government thanked Andreas Norlén.

Special emphasis was placed on the situation and humanitarian challenges in Georgia's occupied territories. The parties discussed particular cases of kidnapping in occupied territories. The Prime Minister introduced the Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Georgian Government's peace initiative, A Step to a Better Future.

The meeting also discussed Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration. European integration was singled out as the Georgian nation's civilizational choice and the position of Georgian society as a whole, not only of the Government of Georgia.

The parties spoke about prospects of Georgia's integration into NATO, with emphasis on Georgia's significant contribution to international peacemaking missions.

The meeting also discussed the EU Association Agreement and its positive role, along with the Eastern Partnership Initiative, and the special role of Sweden, a coauthor of the Eastern Partnership Initiative, in Georgia's European integration. The Prime Minister thanked Andreas Norlén for participating, in the company of a high-ranking delegation, in the recent conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of eth Eastern Partnership.
