"Trends that we currently observe give me all the grounds to be optimistic about the future and claim that next year will be historic as Georgia will entirely fill the trade deficit that we had over the past years in the sale of agriculture produce" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia when holding a conversation on the topic with journalists during his visit in Samegrelo.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, this day is an example of high prospects in the agriculture sector of Georgia.

"This day is an example of the policy that we pursue for the development of agriculture having no alternative. I remember well the ungrounded criticism of our opponents claiming that investment in this sector were unjustified and agriculture was allegedly having no prospects of development in Georgia. This day is an example of high prospects in the agriculture sector of Georgia. When we launched reforms, our trade deficit exceeded 900 MLN USD only in the segment of agriculture produce on sale. We managed to reduce it three times. If not this challenge that we had in the face of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB), we would have filled the trade deficit in full this year" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia thanked the US partners and every individual engaged in the fight against the BMSB.

"I wish to particularly thank our US partners. It would have been impossible to achieve this result without their support. Their financial and technical assistance, engagement of their scientists in this process was very important. At the same time, I wish to thank the staff of Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia. They truly achieved the impossible by working round the clock. My special thanks go to our farmers. This project was indeed a very good example of full consolidation and team spirit, which can overcome any challenge whatsoever" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia wished success to farmers and noted that hazelnut harvesting process in progressing successfully.
