It is an imperative duty of any government to stave off danger from eth country, to protect its peaceful citizens and their lives. Unfortunately, the irresponsible government failed by enabling the occupant to carry out its plan of occupation, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated in Varketili where he attended a memorial service for Vakhtang Gzirishvili, a soldier killed in the August 2008 War.

According to the Head of Government, this day embodies an enormous pain for the Georgian state, at the same time reminding everyone how vital consolidation is.

"This day reminds us all that today, more than ever, we need unity, consolidation, mutual support, consistent policy, support from the international community, and that is the guarantee enabling us to join forces and overcome occupation. This day once again reminds us that it is our common pain and challenge that should unite us despite the difference of opinion," the Prime Minister stated.

Mamuka Bakhtadze spoke of the sacrifice made by the Gzirishvilis on the altar of the homeland, pointing out that every Georgian must be aware of their heroic story.

"It is a family of heroes, indeed. Father died a hero's death on Georgian soil in Abkhazia, and so did his son during the 2008 war. To me, Marina Gzirishvili symbolizes the Georgian mother, the unbreakable Georgian spirit, who, despite the great pain in her family, continues her active life. The Georgian state rests on such Georgian families. I bow to honor the memory of our fallen heroes," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

During the memorial service commemorating Vakhtang Gzirishvili at Vakhtang Gorgasali Cathedral, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Defense Minister Levan Izoria.
