"European Games have once again evidenced that Georgia is a homeland of champions. 30 medals and fifth place by the total number of medals won are indeed a unique success" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winners of the European Games at the Government Administration today.

Athletes, couches, sports federations, Olympic Committee and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia received sincere gratitude of the Prime Minister of Georgia on behalf of Georgian supporters and best wishes for the future tournaments.

"It is in the genepool of the Georgian person to pursue a healthy lifestyle and aspire to be the first. As a former sportsman, I know it well that results are attained only through a labor-intensive effort. We have doubled the number of medals compared to the previous Games and it is a unique success. Each of you is a true hero! 30 medals and 5th place in Europe by the total number of medals won is a tremendous success! It is great merits to your couches and federations. On behalf of the Georgian people, I wish to express an enormous gratitude to you all. Sport is not only a success achieved at international tournaments. For me, sport is a means to let the nation demonstrate its talent and to convince the future generations that healthy lifestyle has no alternative. Each of you is a role model for future generations! Georgia is so proud of you!" said the Prime Minister of Georgia to the accomplished athletes.

In the opinion of the Prime Minister of Georgia, country has gained great recognition in the professional sports, however Government of Georgia will not spare an effort to ensure the wide-scale engagement of the youth in the sports.

Second European Games held in Minsk this year have resulted in the milestone achievements for the national team of Georgia. Our athletes have won 30 medals in seven catgories, out of which 6 are gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze. Over 4000 sportsmen from 50 countries of Europe participated in the Games this year.
