Mamuka Bakhtadze: Very important documents with the US will be signed in the nearest future Print Version

2019-06-13

We have just signed a very important document with the US, and many other far-reaching documents will be signed in the nearest future, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze told Georgian journalists in Washington, DC.

After today's meeting with the US Secretary of Commerce, in response to journalists' question about the readiness of the US to sign an FTA with Georgia, the Prime Minister said that Georgia has a responsible, result-oriented government that does not announce such delicate matters in advance.

"Let us not get ahead of ourselves. The US-Georgia strategic partnership has advanced to a qualitatively new level. The Congress has initiated a crucially important bill where, among others, the right emphasis is placed on the necessity to sign an FTA between the two countries. We take this issue with great responsibility, and I would not rush, but what I can promise Georgian society is that, in the nearest future, very important documents will be signed," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
