PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA VISITS NEWLY REFURBISHED PUBLIC SCHOOL N33 IN KUTAISI Print Version

Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia visited a newly refurbished public school N33 in Kutaisi today. Complete rehabilitation was carried out with a joint effort of US and Georgian Governments within the scope of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) II Compact.

School building is designed for 1200 students and is equipped with advanced natural science lab, classrooms complying with international standards to improve the learning process.

As noted by the Prime Minister of Georgia, key priority of the Government of Georgia within the education reform agenda, which is a national idea, is placed on the development of school infrastructure throughout Georgia. It is one of the main components of the reform endeavor.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the US Government and MCC for their significant support. Prime Minister of Georgia visited public school N33 in Kutaisi together with Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia; Magda Maghradze, Executive Director of MCC and US Embassy officials.

MCC funding envisaged a full rehabilitation and refurbishment of 78 public schools in the regions of Georgia, out of which 8 are located in Kutaisi. Currently, 13 public schools are being fully rehabilitated, which will be completed by the beginning of the new academic year. So far, full rehabilitation of 91 public schools has led to the improvement of pro-learning environment for 40 000 students. Project is budgeted at 55 MLN USD.
