International Monetary Fund (IMF) positively views the current reforms and program supported by the IMF in Georgia. It was noted at the meeting of Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF with Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia today.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the Managing Director of the IMF for her visit to Georgia and noted that it is yet another clear evidence of a strong support towards the country. Compliance of the Extended Financing Facility (EFF) with the reform agenda of the Government was underlined.

Prime Minister of Georgia shared information with the Managing Director of the IMF on the comprehensive reforms implemented in Georgia, including those in the education sector, which aim to improve the education quality and develop the human capital.

Face to face meeting was followed with negotiations in an extended format.

Focus was made on the significance of reforms supported by the IMF, as a result of which economy of Georgia has become more resilient towards external shocks. It was noted that this fact is evidenced by the high economic growth maintained in the region notwirthstanding the recent developements. Managing Director of the IMF particularly positively commented about the reforms initiated by the Prime Minister of Georgia, including those in education sector and towards inclusive economic growth.

Managing Director of the IMF noted that they will continue supporting Georgia and its Government in the implementation of the reforms that will support the macroeconomic stability and sustainability.
