State Commission under Prime Minister Established to Celebrate Zviad Gamsakhurdia’s 80th Anniversary Print Version

To celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, a state commission consisting of executive officials has been established under Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.

As the Prime Minister stated during the briefing before today's Government meeting, various events will be held to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of eth country's first President.

"To mark Zviad Gamsakhurdia's anniversary, Georgian Post will issue special stamps, while the Ministry of Education, together with Shota Rustaveli Science Foundation, will establish Zviad Gamsakhurdia Award for Georgian scientists working on Georgia's development abroad. This annual prize will be awarded on March 31. The National Parliamentary Library will host an exhibition of Zviad Gamsakhurdia's works, interviews, photos, and books. The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will build a new library in Zugdidi named after the first President of Georgia. Also, a variety of events honoring Zviad Gamsakhurdia will be held throughout the country," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
