Green economy, and green policy in general, is the most important component of my Government's economic development vision, and I believe that green economy, with effective water resources management as its key driver, is the main precondition for ensuring Georgia's economic success, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated in his speech at the international scientific-practical seminar European Innovative Water Supply and Waste Water Disposal Technologies in the South Caucasus, hosted by the Georgian Technical University.
In terms of water resources, Georgia's in one of the richest countries in the world, the Head of Government said, still there are serious challenges related to water quality. Accordingly, familiarization with new technologies is of vital importance for Georgia duly addressing these challenges.

"Our economic policy has two priorities. The first is our greatest treasure, our society, and the second is our nature. On the first issue, we announced a crucially important initiative several weeks ago, which is an idea of national importance, in my opinion. We the state must spend 6% of our economy, that is, 25% of our annual budget, on education and human capital. The second treasure is our nature, with water resources playing an exceptional role. It is by developing these two priorities that Georgia, I am convinced, will join the ranks of the world's developed economies, and will overcome every challenge," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.
Today, the Prime Minister opened Zhiuli Shartava Educational, Scientific and Expert Laboratory of the Georgian technical University. The laboratory enables students to deepen their theoretical knowledge through practical experiments, and to carry out engineering activities. The laboratory uses educational equipment and devises used in actual on-site technological engineering, this way bringing students closer to the actual working environment.
Rector of the Georgian Technical University Archil Prangishvili provided the Prime Minister with detailed information on the laboratory's capabilities.

According to the Head of Government, the new laboratory at the Technical University is the most powerful in the region.
"The educational reform, this idea of national importance, which we recently announced, has greater importance to us in terms of ranking Georgia among developed economies. I am convinced that the implementation of this initiative will result in many similar laboratories of even greater capacity," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.
