PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA MEETS SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT OF SAXONY IN GERMANY

Active trend of development observed in relations of Georgia and Germany were discussed by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Matthias Rossler, Speaker of the Parliament of Saxony at a meeting held in Dresden today.

Discussions were focused on the long-lasting friendship and successful cooperation of the Georgian and German people in various areas.

Speaker of the Parliament of Saxony expressed particular gratitude to the Head of Government of Georgia for the oil on canvas painting by an Italian artist Pierfrancesco Cittadini in the 17th century, which went missing from the Dresden Art Gallery for years and ultimately gifted by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia to Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany while her recent visit to Tbilisi.

Head of Government of Georgia noted that the painting that was categorized as lost since 1945 was a property of the Dresden Museum and historic justice was regained by returning it.

By the close of the meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia made an entry to the Honorary Book of Guests deposited at the Parliament of Saxony.
