"State Budget allocations in support of agriculture will double and 40 MLN GEL will also be spent for the needs of rural population" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Press Briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

As Head of Government of Georgia noted, decision has been made on the active engagement of rural population in the selection of projects to be supported, by taking into account the identified needs.

"Agriculture Support Program has been resumed with a decision of the Government and 20 MLN GEL was originally earmarked for it. We are talking about the needs of 3700 villages and their local communities. Hence, we took a decision to double the earmarking and increase it to 40 MLN GEL. Practice has shown that rural population tend to know better what they need locally. Over 1000 rural communities have already decided on their priorities and selected individual projects for funding since January 15, 2019" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
