"Allocation of 3.4 billion Euros by EU to Georgia once again confirms that Georgia is a reliable partner of EU" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, the allocated amount will be used to implement dozens of infrastructure projects in the country.

"EU has allocated financial resources to Georgia in the volume of 3.4 billion Euros. It is a genuinely significant project, which will help us make Georgia further more competitive. The referred amount will be used to implement dozens of infrastructure projects. Our request to EU on the augmentation of its financial support to Georgia has been met and I wish to express my most sincere gratitude to our European friends for this" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, direct meetings and communication were held with EU Commissioners on November 21, resulting in the offering of the referred format to the only country of the Eastern Partnership - Georgia.

"We reviewed the referred projects together with them and I wish to let our society know that this portfolio has been approved. I wish to congratulate everyone and once again express my enormous gratitude to our European friends for this decision" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, referred funding will be invested in the sectors of energy, transport and connectivity.

"Significant priority of EU integration roadmap is to deepen connection with EU through individual projects to be implemented in the sectors of transport, energy and connectivity. We have been actively working towards this end and their implementation will give new opportunities to our country for a greater integration with EU. Within this context, we welcome the publication of a Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) Investment Plan. Its implementation will make it possible to construct and rehabilitate new and existing roads, railways, marine and air ports, along with logistics centers and border check points" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
