"I want to congratulate every Georgian citizen as the first woman president in our history is about to take the oath of office," Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze told journalists before today's presidential inauguration ceremony in Telavi.
According to the Head of Government, the presidential inauguration is a historic event in that it coincides with the new constitution's coming into force.
"We are switching to a full parliamentary republic, parliamentary democracy, marking another decisive step toward our return to our European family and European values. We expect these constitutional amendments to enable us further to build on our successful European and Euro-Atlantic integration. I congratulate everyone on this day," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.
