As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated after visiting the Telavi Rugby Stadium, Kakheti and Telavi have always supported Georgian sports by raising scores of successful athletes, and I am convinced that this base will help us further promote rugby and a healthy way of life.

The Head of Government met with young rugby players and attended their training session.

"Today, we opened a new base for rugby players in Telavi, another important facility for Georgian rugby. As you know, we already have similar bases in all other big cities. I would like to thank the Cartu Foundation for investing 200,000,000 in rugby infrastructure throughout Georgia. I avail myself of this opportunity to wish success to our guys in today's game with Tonga," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.

The Telavi Rugby Stadium, constructed since 2017 with financial support from the Cartu Foundation, incorporates one natural grass and one artificial turf pitches with relevant infrastructure and 2,000 seats for fans. The project's investment value is 7.8 million GEL.

In 2012-2018, the state, under the State Rugby Program, allocated over 71 million GEL for financing drills, transportation, athletic equipment, and others of national and age-group teams, with the Cartu Foundation spending almost 200 million GEL on the construction of stadiums and training bases in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Martkopi, Kutaisi, Gori, Batumi, Telavi, Aspindza, and Poti. The largest investment was made in Tbilisi where five rugby complexes were built.
