Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with the members of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The conversation during the meeting involved the country's political situation, the upcoming presidential runoff, and the pre-election environment. According to the Prime Minister, international observers have assessed the presidential election as democratic, free, and fair, and the same environment will be ensured for the runoff.
Special emphasis was placed on the country's ongoing and implemented reforms. The Georgian Government's reform agenda, including substantial changes planned in the educational sector, were commended.
The dire security and humanitarian situation in Georgia's occupied territories was singled out, and deep concern was expressed over the process of reinforcing the occupation line near the village of Atotsi in the Kareli Municipality. The importance of response from the international community was also emphasized.

The Prime Minister also introduced the members of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to the Georgian Government's peace initiative A Step to a Better Future that seeks to rebuild trust between the conflict-torn communities.
