2018-11-08

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, in his comment on the recent Resolution in support of Georgia's territorial integrity and EU integration adopted unanimously by the Senate of Ireland, stated that this support reaffirms how reliable and loyal Georgia is as our European and Western friend's partner.

The Prime Minister thanked the Senate of Ireland for adopting this resolution and discussed its significance during the briefing before today's Government meeting.

"Allow me to inform you that, on November 7, 2018, the Senate of Ireland unanimously adopted the Resolution in Support of Georgia's Territorial Integrity and EU Integration. We welcome this resolution, and we are grateful to our friends for adopting it. It is important that a friend country reaffirmed strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, also condemning the occupation of Georgia's territory by Russia, and pointing out the most grievous security and human rights situation and developments in the occupied territories. At the same time, it is very important that this resolution supports Georgia's peace policy and, in particular, our initiative A Step to a Better Future. Also, our Western partners duly appreciate Georgia's efforts on the path to European integration, and they hail the country's impressive progress," the Head of Government emphasized.
