Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, in his comment on Congressman Ted Poe's initiative to speed up the initiation of negotiations on a bilateral FTA between the US and Georgia, stated that free trade agreement with the US would be a very important message to all and a precondition for us to reach one of the key goals of our economic strategy by transforming Georgia into the wider region's economic hub.
According to the Prime Minister, to step up the initiation of negotiations on signing a bilateral FTA, Congressman Poe appeals to very important arguments that Georgia has in terms of institutional development. Signing a bilateral FTA, Bakhtadze says, will be a very important positive message to ensure stability and peace in the region.

"As you know, we have advanced to an active phase in discussing the FTA issue with our American colleagues, which is a very important precondition for further strengthening Georgia economically. As you know, our friends have responded to Congressman Ted Poe's initiative and expressed their views. Twenty-eight Members of Congress have urged the US Trade Representative to speed up reviewing this initiative," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.
