Prime Minister’s Meeting with New Swedish Ambassador Print Version

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with Sweden's newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia Ulrik Tideström.

The Head of Government congratulated the Swedish diplomat on the commencement of his mission in Georgia and emphasized the importance of the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister hopes that the 100th anniversary of these relations will pave the way for further strengthening our friendly and partner relations.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the assistance of Sweden's Government on Georgia's path to development in a variety of directions, also pointing out the importance of Georgia-Sweden close cooperation in the areas of economy, defense, culture, education, and others.

The role of SIDA in inclusive development was particularly stressed.

The Prime Minister thanked the Swedish side for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Mamuka Bakhtadze also underlined Sweden's positive contribution to Georgia's European integration.

For his part, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia expressed commitment to encouraging the further deepening of Georgia-Sweden relations. According to him, the Swedish side will continue its firm support of Georgia's territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Ulrik Tideström commended the Georgian Government's reforms and pointed out that the success in this direction will serve as fertile ground for maximally tapping into the potential in Georgia-Sweden economic relations.

The meeting at the Administration of the Government was attended by Head of the SIDA Programs in Georgia Molly Lien.
