Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Fatou Bensouda, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICCt) in New York.

Discussions were related to the investigation of Russian-Georgian August war of 2008.

It was once again reaffirmed at the meeting that Government of Georgia (GOG) stands ready to continue its active cooperation with the ICCt with a seat in the Hague and Office of the Chief Prosecutor to maximize the outcome of the investigation process.

Georgian authorities hope that ethnic cleansing of Georgians, torture and manslaughter of captives, war crimes directed against the Georgian population and use of Iskander (SS-26 Stone as per NATO reporting name) by Russians in the bombing of Gori will be investigated in a comprehensive manner.

Meeting was attended by Thea Tsulukiani, Minister of Justice of Georgia, who noted that ICCt will hold a key-note international conference in Tbilisi in October. Also, signing of a significant agreement is planned to exchange the prisoners.
