Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze held a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
The conversation revolved around the grievous security and human rights situation in Georgia's occupied regions, the importance of access for international missions to these territories, and their role in ensuring peace.
The Georgian Government's peace initiative A Step to a Better Future seeking to rebuild confidence among the conflict-torn population was commended.

As it was emphasized during the meeting, the state of affairs in the occupied territories seriously cripples progress. The Prime Minister of Georgia and the Secretary General of OSCE also discussed murder cases and the resolution adopted by the Parliament of Georgia, based on which the Government developed the so-called Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list. The resolution is designed to bring to justice persons violating human rights in the occupied territories.
Special emphasis during the meeting was placed on the successful judiciary reform. The parties also spoke about the upcoming presidential election and the engagement of the OSCE Monitoring Mission in the electoral process. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Georgian Government's commitment to holding another free, fair, and transparent election.
It is Thomas Greminger's first visit to Georgia in the capacity of OSCE Secretary General.
