Disposable plastics to be gradually banned starting October 1 Print Version

As Georgian Prime Minister stated during today's briefing, the Government of Georgia, as part of its green economy and environmental policy, has adopted regulations to come into force on October 1, 2018 and ensure the maximal gradual removal from use of single-use plastic bags.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government is actively developing its green economy policy.

"As you know, in the last few years, the whole world has been waging war on using disposable plastics for wrapping. Plastics, especially the widespread plastic bags, are the worst pollutants that damage environment most. The Government of Georgia, as part of its green economy and environmental policy, has adopted regulations that will come in force on October 1, 2018 to ensure the maximal gradual removal of disposable plastics," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.
