As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated at the briefing before today's Government meeting, the foreign investments in the second quarter of 2018 reached almost 390 million USD, a 9.5% year-over-year improvement.

According to the Head of Government, reinvestments also increased to make up 180 million USD.

"These statistics reaffirm our extremely effective steps toward attracting investments. Given the certain economic turbulence in the region, it is especially commendable that investors have increasing faith in the further growth of our economy," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

According to the Head of Government, a slight decrease is recorded in construction; therefore the Government plans steps to attract more investments in the construction sector.

"It is rewarding to see growing investments in the real sector in general, because this is the sector boasting one of the best results in terms of new jobs. We are actively working on further improving the investment and business environment, on the structural improvement of economy, and enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector. Macroeconomic stability and the country's ongoing reforms, including the tax reform and those fostering SMEs, along with FTAs and fast-growing foreign economic ties, will further promote the investment attractiveness of our country," Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized.
