Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze urges Georgian entrepreneurs actively to engage in the VAT return system. As the Head of Government stated before today's Government meeting, this reform is expected to return up to half a billion GEL to Georgian businesses.

As the Prime Minister commented in relation to such a painful matter as the VAT return system, this important reform by the Government has returned about 280 million GEL to the private sector since January 1, 2018.

"Still, certain stereotypes persist. Unfortunately, Georgian businesses have a painful experience with VAT return procedures under the previous authorities, because VAT returns were tied directly to inspections by tax administration agencies, mostly the financial police. It was an extremely harmful practice detrimental to Georgian business," the Prime Minister stated.

The Head of Government urged Georgian entrepreneurs to be more active and to fill up declarations; also pointing out that the process of VAT returns is simple, comfortable, and friendly.

"I understand that your past experience in this regard is difficult, but we must join forces to establish a modern, brand new level playing field. Thus, I once again urge Georgian entrepreneurs to be maximally engaged in this project. Our objective is to return up to half a billion GEL into Georgia's economy," Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized.
