"Philosophy of the Georgian Dream is that we need to create a truly European parliamentary democracy and parliamentary republic in Georgia; Hence, apart from purely party interests there is another, more valid argument - when we have a Constitutional Majority in the Parliament, it will be better for our democracy if the Georgian Dream keeps away from nominating its candidate for presidential elections" noted Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia in response to a question posed by journalists on this topic.

Head of the Government of Georgia believes that Constitutional Majority is held by the Georgian Dream in the Parliament, similar to actual majority in every local authority of the country.

"Indeed, any political power strives to participate in any elections and invest most resources to gain a solid result. Trust me, we have a number of candidates for the upcoming elections. Bidzina Ivanishvili did speak about it. They can gain a very decent result in the Presidential Elections without any problem or any major effort. Nevertheless, philosophy of the Georgian Dream is that we should create a truly European parliamentary democracy and parliamentary republic in the country. We currently have a constitutional majority. Hence, there is another, more significant argument apart from purely party interests. Given the fact that we hold a Constitutional Majority in the Parliament, it will be good for our democracy if Georgian Dream keeps away from nominating its candidate for the Presidential Elections. Both arguments have very serious grounds and weight. One is related to the fact that all parties should be active at elections, however on the other hand Georgian Dream has a clear philosophy to build a parliamentary democracy and to shape the country into a parliamentary republic. Therefore, these consultations and very thorough discussions are based on this principles. As our Party Chairman stated, we will be announcing our final shared position in the coming days" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
