"I expressed my personal willingness to see Georgia in the future as a political part of the European Union. Of course I am speaking about full membership" stated Andrejs Mamikins, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) after his meeting with Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia today.

Parties discussed past and pending reforms in the country, along with the significant success achieved towards implementation of the Association Agreement (AA) between EU and Georgia.

MEP noted at the meeting that Georgia has attained impressive progress in many directions, thus serving as a role model for European countries. MEP also praised the socio-economic policy of the Government of Georgia. In the opinion of Andrejs Mamikins, current Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia stands ready to pursue the pro-European vector in domestic and international policies and to protect its people.

Parties also discussed the current situation and security issues in the region.

Head of the Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the MEP for the Resolution on 10 Years Since the Russian Invasion to Occupied Territories of Georgia endorsed by the European Parliament, which evidences the support towards sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, condemns the occupation of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Regions - integral parts of Georgia - by the Russian Federation and calls on its Member States to enforce sanctions to individuals referred in the Otkhozoria-Tatunashvili List.

Andrejs Mamikins will author the report on the implementation of EU-Georgia Association Agreement commissioned by the European Parliament.
