PRE-ELECTION DELEGATION OF NDI CLAIMS THAT TRUST TOWARDS ELECTIONS IS INCREASED IN GEORGIA Print Version

According to a Pre-Election Delegation of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), trust towards elections has been increased recently. It was stated by the NDI Delegation Members at the meeting with Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia today.

Delegation has visited the country with an aim of studying the pre-election attitudes. Parties have reviewed the present environment and current political process.

It was mentioned at the meeting that both pre-election attitudes and general environment have been increased significantly, thus demonstrating the standards of high democracy, which needs to be maintained by all means.

Head of the Government of Georgia noted that standards of pre-election processes have been qualitatively increased in recent years and held free, fair and competitive elections. He also focused on the role of active monitoring assumed by the non-government organizations (NGO), local and international organizations.

Prime Minister of Georgia expressed readiness to ensure the open, transparent and democratic presidential elections in the country. It was noted that past malpractices of administrative resource deployment will be abolished and special attention will be paid to the application of good practices.

Pre-Election Delegation of the NDI is launching the assessment of preparations for the presidential elections, political activity of the key players of the election process and general overview of the process. It will result in the publication of key findings and recommendations on the pre-election environment by the NDI on July 27, 2018.
