Government of Georgia – Appearance 2018

PRIME MINISTER COMMITS TO ACTIVELY COMMUNICATE WITH PARLIAMENT Print Version

2018-07-15

"We have submitted a very ambitious plan of reforms, implementation of which will start from tomorrow" announced Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia upon the endorsement of a new Government by the Parliament of Georgia.

Prime Minister thanked the Parliament for the endorsement and noted that he plans to actively communicate with the legislature.

"I said today that absolute majority of proposed reforms will be implemented this year through 2019. As for the education system reform, it is a substantial issue, which requires a relatively longer timeframe. However, all the other reforms will be carried out in the shortest period of time. About half of the reform initiatives will be accomplished in 2018, while the other half - in 2019. Our goal is to achieve an inclusive growth in the country and we will by all means do this. I wish to thank all my colleagues for their support. We are represented with a team of professionals that will work round the clock to successfully implement the reforms and create an environment, which will be felt by every household in the country and our citizens". Philosophy of the Georgian Dream is to create a parliamentary democracy and we live in a parliamentary republic. Respectively, Parliament performs an effective oversight and control over the Government and we have conceptualized that well. I thus state with full responsibility that myself and my team members intend to engage in a very active communication with the Parliament" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of the Government later accepted questions of the media as well.
